Literature Text

I'm "too nice," many folks have said to me.
But that won't change until I'm dead, you see.
I prefer to be kind, not snide or prickly-mean...
for being nice isn't truly a crime, or obscene.

To me, niceness has been my raison d'etre.
I share my heart with those I love in life.
I believe in having a big heart in my chest...
and in showing my generosity with no measure.

True, some take advantage of me, and yes, it hurts.
But I know that they will get their just desserts.
I seek not to have riches here, for here they stay.
My riches are my love--which I'm happy to give away.

Yes, I am "too nice"...why should it be an issue?
For what I give here, I will get five-fold next life.
Be it love, cash, or a hug...you want it, come get it.
Just be sure to pass it on to another who needs it.

Some folks say that I'm "too nice."
This poem is my response.

So true! I can relate to the too nice comment. I say its better to be too nice than mean. What is Rasion d'etre? Sorry I don't know.
