Home of the Hapsburgs for oh, so long.
But now we are here, just you and I.
The sun is coming through our window...
revealing frost outside, on the glass.

We met at the party the night before.
But something caught your eyes...
and as we danced, you breathed in my ear,
telling me that you desired me this night.

We sipped champange to the strains of Strauss,
and discussed our plans for the future.
Your fingers danced on my hand as you told me
how much you thought I reminded you of someone.

Another time, another place in this fine old hotel,
you would be a society girl, me a hussar officer.
But here we are, two lonely souls looking for love...
you take my hand and lead me up the old stairs.

Our night of passion was as beautiful as the city.
We loved through the night, doing everything right.
And as we slept, I heard the ghosts of this old place,
the tinkling of glassware, and the odd pistol shot.

Now I awake to find you sleeping next to me, my sweet.
I caress your flaxen hair, and thank you for your love.
On a Winter's morning, by the banks of the Danube...
I wonder if the city will be as pretty as you are.

I was listening to Spotify, and this song from Ultravox called "Vienna" came up.
As I listened...I started writing.
