Holding You

We lay on the bed, holding each other.
It's been a long day, and we both are tired.
Sweat matts our hair, but what do we care?
It just feels so good, to be holding you.

I know how hard your day was, as was mine.
We take comfort in each other's gentle love.
We don't need sex--we just need each other.
We just need to know that we care enough.

I feel your heavy breathing on my cheek,
and smell the scent of a good day's sweat.
I caress you softly, eliciing a murmur
as the night traffic rolls along outside.

Just rest, my darling...know that I love you.
You need never fear losing my love anyway.
As I'm holding you, know I am your's forever--
just sleep in my arms and dream your dreams.
