Summer's End

The summer sun is spending less time
warming our souls with each passing day.
Autumn leaves are waiting to fall,
and the equinox will soon be upon us.

The wave-riders are still out in the surf,
but soon, they will be donning wetsuits.
Baseball fields will be played upon less,
while King Football makes his triumphal return.

Watermelons will soon give way to soup,
and the kiddies will going back to school.
Soon, it will be harvest time for the crops,
and sunscreen will be exchanged for sweaters.

The summer heat doesn't want to die out yet,
but the seasons must change--so let it be.
Though the summer must go, I do hope you know
that next year, we will bask in it's warmth.
